David Selby

David Selby’s accomplished stage career includes many productions for Broadway and such regional theatres as the Kennedy Center, the American Shakespeare Festival, the Hartford Stage, the Alley Theatre, and the Shakespeare Theatre in DC, where he received the Millennium Award, and he is a member of the Cleveland Playhouse Hall of Fame.

In Los Angeles most recently he appeared at the Wallis Theatre and at the Odyssey Theatre, where he received the best actor award from the LA Stage Critics for his role in A Delicate Balance. Mr. Selby became interested in Abraham Lincoln while working on his doctoral degree in Illinois. At Ford’s Theatre, he starred as Abraham Lincoln in the critically acclaimed play The Heavens Are Hung in Black, commissioned for the opening of the newly remodeled theatre. He later starred there again as Lincoln in Necessary Sacrifices. In April 2015 he delivered some of Lincoln’s most famous speeches at Ford’s for the 150^thcommemoration of Lincoln’s assassination. Selby created the roles of Quentin Collins on television’s Dark Shadows and Richard Channing on Falcon Crest. He starred in HBO’s Tell Me You Love Me and guest-starred on many shows, such as Mad Men. He is featured in the Marvel FX series Legion and more recently in Stephen King’s new series, Castle Rock. His many film credits include Up the Sandbox, Super Cops, Dying Young, White Squall, The Social Network, Equals, and most recently, Back Fork. A charter member of LA Theatre Works, he has recorded many plays for live audiences, most recently as Dean Rusk in A Tug of War about the Cuban Missile Crisis. He is the voice of Commissioner Gordon in the animated film The Dark Knight Returns. He has just completed his 9^th book, A Stairway to Heaven.
