President Lincolns office and cabinet room on the second floor of the White House became the Lincoln Bedroom in the twentieth century. C. K. Stellwagen made a pen-and-ink sketch of it in October 1864. At the long cabinet table the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed on January 1, 1863.
