This portrait of James Monroe was painted by Adrian Lamb in 1975. Lamb styled the portrait after an earlier painting by renowned early American artist Gilbert Stuart. Monroe served in the Senate and held multiple cabinet positions before being elected president. He served from March 4, 1817 until March 4, 1825.
