Red Room During Chester Arthur Administration
Created c. 1884-1885.
With artistic flair, Louis Comfort Tiffany painted the walls of the Red Room in a deep red that lightened towards the top of the walls. The famous designer decorated the top of the walls with stars and stripes, attached sparkling bronze and copper stars to the ceiling, colored the woodwork red, and designed a mirror full of glittering colored glass.
