President Franklin Roosevelt in Shenandoah National Park
President Franklin D. Roosevelt visits a Civilian Conservation Core camp in the Shenandoah National Park. One of Roosevelt’s New Deal programs, the CCC employed 3 million men during the Great Depression to improve parks nationwide by planting trees, building roads and bridges, and both building new structures and restoring historic ones.
