Notable British Visitors: The Eisenhowers at the Grand Staircase

President and Mrs. Dwight D. Eisenhower greet Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on their arrival at the North Portico. Of his royal guests' hectic, historic, and cordial four day stay at the White House in October 1957, Eisenhower recalled, "This was one ceremonial visit we were sorry to see end."
