East Sitting Hall, John F. Kennedy Administration

This photograph of the East Sitting Hall, also known as the Monroe Hall, was taken on May 3, 1962 by Robert L. Knudsen. The photo shows French interior designer Stéphane Boudins elaborate window treatment and the Monroe center table in place. The hall, located on the east end of the Second Floor in the Executive Mansion, is recognizable for its grand, arched window that is identical to the one in the West Sitting Hall on the opposite end of the house. The hall is located just outside of the Lincoln Bedroom.
