President Ford Dances with Ginger Rogers
This photograph of President Gerald R. Ford dancing with Ginger Rogers on October 2, 1975, at the state dinner in honor of the Emperor and Empress of Japan, was taken by White House photographer Karl Schumacher. This was the fourth time Rogers, the famed actress and dancer, had accepted an invitation to the White House, having previously met with presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, and Richard Nixon. She would visit the White House two more times, once for a state dinner during the Ronald Reagan administration and and once when President George H.W. Bush highlighted her achievements alongside other Kennedy Center honorees during a press conference.
