Red Room Mantel Decorated for Christmas
This is a photograph of the mantel in the Red Room decorated for Christmas taken on December 14, 1998. Under the portrait of Angelica Singleton Van Buren by Henry Inman is a lively and edible scene at the North Pole complete with polar bears and penguins. The sculpture was created by renowned cake decorator Colette Peters. The 1998 theme for the holiday decorations was "Winter Wonderland."
