This oil on canvas portrait of President Dwight D. Eisenhower was painted by James Anthony Wills. Prior to being elected president, Eisenhower was supreme allied commander in Europe during World War II, the first military governor of the U.S.-occupied zone in Germany, president of Columbia University, and the supreme commander of NATO. He served as president from January 20, 1953 until January 20, 1961.
