Red Room Mantel Decorated for Christmas
This is a photograph of the Christmas decorations on the mantel of the Red Room taken on December 20, 1999, by White House photographer William Vasta. The replicas of historic structures nestled within a winter scene illustrate 1999's theme "Saving America's Treasures," highlighting First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton's drive to preserve important landmarks and historic artifacts. Above the replicas is the portrait of Angelica Singleton Van Buren by Henry Inman.
