Program for Saint Patrick's Day Celebration
This is an event program for a Saint Patrick's Day party hosted by President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter on March 17, 1980. Guests were entertained with songs and readings from Irish literature in the East Room. Among the entertainers at the party were actress Faye Dunaway, playwright William Alfred, and musician Robert White. During the party, President Carter was presented with a vase of shamrocks from Brian Lenihan, Minister for Foreign Affairs for Ireland. This program includes the menu from the dinner party.
This program is part of a personal collection belonging to former White House Executive Chef Henry Haller. As executive chef from 1966-1987, Haller oversaw the menus for many celebrations at the White House.
