Program for State Dinner Honoring Italian Prime Minister
This is an event program distributed to guests of a State Dinner hosted by President Jimmy Carter in honor of Prime Minister Francesco Cossiga of Italy on January 24, 1980. The program includes the dinner menu, a description of the bronze sculptures by Frederic Remington that were used as centerpieces, descriptions of an exhibition of American quilts, and a set list of country music performed for guests in the East Room following the dinner, predominately by musician Tom T. Hall. Most of the text in the program is presented in both English and Italian.
This program is part of a personal collection belonging to former White House Executive Chef Henry Haller. As executive chef from 1966-1987, Haller oversaw the menus for over 250 State Dinners at the White House.
