Norman Cohn had an early start in the business world by selling Christmas gifts while a Junior in High School. As a rising Senior in High School he was elected Governor of Boys State and Secretary of Defense at Boys Nation, and subsequently met with President Truman in the White House. While attending Iowa State Teacher’s College, now known as the University of Northern Iowa, Norman Cohn was a member of the only college debate team in the United States that beat Oxford University. After college, Mr. Cohn enlisted with the Air National Guard and patriotically served for six years, including six months of active duty. He became the youngest member of the Young President’s Organization, joining at the age of 27. Later, he was appointed Chairman of the Bicentennial Council of the thirteen original states by President Gerald Ford in 1972. Mr. Cohn is currently the Chairman of Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI), a family-owned, professionally managed technology business in the promotional products industry. ASI is headquartered in Philadelphia, with contract employees all over the world. He has held board positions with organizations including the National Liberty Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, National Public Radio, YPO International Board, and the Chaine des Rotisseurs International Board. Mr. Cohn has been happily married to his wife Suzanne for 57 years, and they have five wonderful children and ten remarkable grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Cohn divide their time between Naples, Florida and Philadelphia, where they can enjoy the rich cultures and community atmospheres.
